UMPRUM winter 2023
Welcome to our curated showcase of standout artworks from the winter semester at the Academy of Arts, Architecture & Design in Prague.
Hubert Švaříček
The first thing that struck me in the eyes was the work of Hubert Švaříček. Almost dream-like paintings using corrosion on sheet of the metal to help him reappear his past memories of the house with the garden he used to live in.
Markéta Špundová
Then I paid a visit to a ceramic studio and found this work by Markéta Špundová. She made this collection called JOY that is focussing on the idealistic life we all would love to be having.
Kristína Opálková
This happens rarely but these photographs I really liked. Urban biotope by Kristína Opálková was about exploring the surroundings of a highway that goes through Prague. I think this has book potential in the future.
Bára Tetaurová
Then I found those little creatures by Bára Tetaurová. She managed to make something this beautiful from the most annoying plant called Curly thistle. Deeper investigation into this plant showed her all the possibilities of it's usefulness.
Markéta Královcová
At this studio I focused on Markéta Královcová snapshots like paintings. Everyday moments we all snap with our iphones appearing on the small canvas. The cakes symbolized life milestones and creating an atmosphere of lightness of life.
Julie Černá
And of course I could not leave UMPRUM without checking the installation by Julie Černá. That mainly contains stories she drew about the stone of destiny. That I really identify with.
