Elusive Cargo
HIDDEN UMPRUM
11. 12. 2024  / 7. 1. 2025

We are delighted to present another exhibition at HIDDEN UMPRUM, featuring student of Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, Šimon Jan.

Šimon Jan, in the exhibition Elusive Cargo, continues his process-based practice that explores time and various rhythms. In this exhibition, time emerges as a commodity—one that we are still able to materialize, even though its essence remains elusive. Time escapes from transport crates, hides within paintings, wanders, and perhaps is even for sale. Through repetition and recurring symbols, Jan reaches a threshold where we perceive timelessness—where past and future disappear, leaving us in a moment that cannot be grasped.

What happens when we materialize abstract concepts? Is time truly a commodity today? And where does timelessness reside?
