Anežka Hubatková - Mother

In Mother, Hubátková arranges a silent procession of blurred figures trudging across an ochre-tinted plain toward a simple canvas shelter. A low, roughly hewn fence runs between this group and the two figures standing inside the tent—presumed mother and child—underscoring the distance between collective memory and intimate refuge. The fence’s rough posts, partially swallowed by the red-tinged earth, act as both barrier and threshold. Through soft, diffused brushstrokes, the painting evokes a pilgrimage across emotional terrain, where protection and separation coexist in the same landscape.
