At first, it was just a mountain—rendered in Latta’s signature isometric perspective, floating in a gridded void like terrain from an old strategy game. But then something strange happened: a small crater near the mountain’s base began to echo a real site. That hole, with its awkward slope and flattened geometry, reminded her of the now-iconic excavation outside the Ferdinand pub in Prague’s Holešovice district. So she added it in.
Tucked into the mountain like a glitch in a map, the green sign of Ferdinand becomes a portal between the digital and the physical, the imagined and the remembered. A place of beer, ruin, and municipal absurdity—now re-rendered as part of a landscape that doesn’t quite exist.
As in Latta’s broader clausura series, the work reflects on constructed space, artificial memory, and the quiet surrealism of contemporary urban life. This mountain isn’t monumental; it’s familiar. A terrain shaped less by tectonics than by soft algorithms and unexpected resemblances.
