Here, the artist aimed to create a painting that would evoke the auditory hallucination of buzzing—or the grainy static of an old television screen without signal. The canvas swarms with a putrid multitude of flies resembling black falling ash from a great fire. The woman's face dissolves completely within this horrific swarm, violently confronting us with questions about the fragility of human identity.
