Roman Košťál - Lady Midday

In this painting, we encounter a sorrowful Polednice (Lady Midday) standing bewildered in a wheat field, as if in mourning. The artist drew inspiration from Polish folklore, where Polednice is portrayed far more terrifyingly than in our Czech version. The figure wears a floral crown, evoking the horror film Midsommar, while the vast, empty horizon conjures an overwhelming sense of desolation and despair.
