The canvas depicts a witchcraft séance of black magic, and the inverted Baroque staircase turns the space inside out, pushing it beyond normal reality — as if reality merges with a dream, where it’s unclear where one ends and the other begins. The black cat in the darkness symbolizes that something else is present in the composition — something mysterious, unknown, and malevolent.
