Martin Mlateček paints the streets most people avoid, the dim corners of Žižkov where light pools under yellow lamps and silence hums with after-hours restlessness. Working en plein air at night, he not only paints the streets but also encounters: drunks, night workers, stray voices. Each canvas becomes a residue of contact a trace of time shared with whoever happened to pass by.
As a flâneur, he drifts through the city with no agenda but presence. His paintings are neither romantic nor cynical; they hold the electric stillness of reality observed without judgment. Layered in oil and darkness, these works record the fragile dialogue between painter and place, between one man and a city that never quite sleeps.
