The first solo exhibition of Sára Konečná presents a series of airbrush paintings inspired by the atmosphere of saunas — spaces where warmth becomes a tool of both physical and mental cleansing. For Konečná, the sauna is not only a setting but a metaphor for self-acceptance. The works emerge from a personal need to reconcile with her own body, to confront feelings she has about herself and the others.
Across the series, Konečná alternates three dominant color tones — blue, yellow, and red — each reflecting a different stage of the body’s experience within the sauna. The blue paintings evoke the first contact with heat, when the body still feels cold and guarded. The yellow ones capture the moment of balance, when warmth begins to sink in and comfort replaces tension. The red paintings embody the peak of heat, when the body reaches its limit and the air feels almost unbearable.
