Alexandra Grüner

About

Alexandra Grüner (b. 1997) is a visual artist based in Prague. She was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts in 2022, joining the drawing atelier of Jiří Petrbok and Martin Gerboc. Her academic background in psychology informs a body of work focused on perception, memory, and the subtle threshold between sensation and image.

In addition to painting and drawing, Grüner works with immersive installation, often incorporating found fabrics, lace curtains, and domestic relics. These elements allow her to build intimate, layered environments—spaces of both protection and ambiguity. Her solo exhibition at HIDDEN Republika and her collaborative installation Vestigial with Klára Hartlová exemplify her ability to merge interior architecture with emotionally charged visual language.

Grüner’s works resist narration or fixed meaning. Instead, they open affective and tactile experiences that invite the viewer into a suspended state—one that feels remembered rather than understood.
